Free ear wax removal for over 55s in Athlone

Hidden Hearing at 2A & 2B John Broderick Street Irishtown Central, Athlone, is offering free professional ear wax removal to persons over 55 years of age on Friday, March 3. Clients will also receive a free hearing screening to further diagnose or rule out any hearing issues. The procedure is performed by a Hearing Care Professional who has received specialist training in both ear irrigation and dry mopping from Aston University in Birmingham. Hidden Hearing is the only hearing professional company to offer the wax removal service.

Colm is a highly qualified audiologist with a Masters in Audiology from the University of Southampton (recently recognised as the UK’s number one school of audiology) which he undertook following a prestigious scholarship award from the HSE. He is also a member of the Irish Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists. Since qualifying Colm has worked across numerous clinics and has recently decided to work independently using the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

Mayo newborn is 100,000th baby to be screened for hearing impairments

James Michael Murphy from Westport was the 100,000th baby in Ireland to be screened for hearing impairments, under the HSE’s universal new-born hearing screening programme, provided by Northgate Public Services, which is available at hospitals throughout Ireland. James, who was born at Mayo General Hospital in February, and mum Elizabeth were delighted to have clear responses from the hearing screen delivered by screener, Sinead Courtney.
